National Health and Fitness Day

National Health & Fitness Day is Saturday, June 2nd, 2018









National Health and Fitness Day (NHFD) is an initiative to make Canada the Fittest Nation on Earth, starting with marking one day, the first Saturday in June as the day when Canadians get out and get active in any way they wish. Over the last few years, I have worked with former MP John Weston and other partners to involve all Parliamentarians in encouraging cities and towns across the country to proclaim the day and mark it with local events. Hundreds of communities have already proclaimed the day and the National Health and Fitness Day Act, Bill S-211, became law in December 2014.  Click here to get ideas and see how your community is involved:

Parliamentary Fitness Initiative

The Parliamentary Fitness Initiative is a non partisan project that encourages MPs and Senators to take care of their personal fitness and act as role models for their constituents by running and/or swimming together once a week.

The following activities are part of this initiative:

  • Skate Day on the Hill, Thursday, February, February 1, 2018, noon
  • Cross Country Ski Day on the Hill, Wednesday, February 14, 2018, noon
  • Swim Day on the Hill, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, noon
  • Bike Day on the Hill, Tuesday, May 29, 2018. 3:30 – 7:30 pm
